CMC Links with Student Composers CMC hosted an open evening for student composers in October. The aim of the evening was to provide an opportunity for young composers to share ideas and experiences and meet established composers, as well as to build stronger links between the Contemporary Music Centre and composers in third-level education. Students of NUI Maynooth, Trinity College, Dublin, University College Dublin and the Cork School of Music were present, as were representatives of the Young Composers’ Collective (YCC) and the Association of Irish Composers (AIC). Events this autumn organized by student composers include a performance by vocal quartet Bulraga on 2 November and a YCC concert on 30 November. The Contemporary Music Centre would like to thank all the composers who attended the event in Fishamble Street last Wednesday. The CMC will shortly be launching an e-shot dedicated to student composers.
