Landmark Podcast from CMC

The Contemporary Music Centre is the first Irish arts organization to podcast from its web site.

In an innovative move for CMC, our Composer of the Month interviews are now available as podcasts.

Podcasts are considered to be ‘the next big thing’ in new media formats. Essentially they are an easy way of downloading digital audio content from web sites and playing it back when and where you want.

It means you don’t have to be online while you are listening (and therefore, in most cases, tethered to your desktop computer at home). You can listen while you’re commuting to work or sitting in your garden, at a time of your own choosing.

All you need is one of the increasingly available mp3 players -- such as the Apple iPod -- now on the market and a broadband or equivalent connection to your computer. Then you save the programme you are interested in and listen to it later.

Podcasting also offers the facility to subscribe to updates of any content you are interested in. For instance, in future it will be possible to subscribe to CMC’s Composer of the Month podcast and receive it as an automatic download each month.

However for those who are not yet fully integrated into the digital age these interviews will continue to be available in the more common audio and video formats.

Keep right up to date with news of what Ireland’s composers are doing!
