CMC Autumn Salons
The first CMC Salon of the winter season will be given by William Dowdall (flute) and John Feeley (guitar) on 11 November in the Printing House, TCD. Their programme comprises Rhona Clarke’s Reflection on the 6th Station of the Cross; Frank Corcoran’s Quasi Un Amore; Ian Wilson’s Tern/Icarus and Eric Sweeney’s Walk/Don’t Walk. William Dowdall and John Feeley work together regularly. They have a particular commitment to contemporary music and have commissioned and premiered many works from Irish composers, both individually and as a duo. Their CD of music by John Buckley, In Winter Light, was released recently. Dublin-born Dowdall combines a busy career as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher with his duties as principal flute with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Feeley has performed widely with the American Symphony at Carnegie Hall, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Ulster Orchestra, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra in addition to his solo and chamber music concerts and his work as a teacher. Now in its third season, the CMC Salon series aims to provide an informal and relaxed platform for new music. The performers and composers speak about the works and the audience asks questions and makes comments. The performance takes place from 6.30 – 7.30 pm in the Printing House adjacent to New Square in the Trinity College campus. Admission is free and discussions continue informally after the performance. For details please visit the Calendar.
