Where Birds and Angels Dwell

Marian Ingoldsby
Marian Ingoldsby

The Irish Youth Choir is collaborating with two Waterford children’s choirs in a new work by Marian Ingoldsby.

Conducted by Geoffrey Spratt and accompanied on piano by Ciara Moroney, this piece features the poetry of Newfoundland poet Al Pittman and Irish poets Gerald Griffin and Pádraig Pearse. The commission is supported by the Ireland Newfoundland Partnership and is composed to celebrate the shared vocal traditions and cultures of Newfoundland, Canada and Ireland.

Also included in the concert are Gerard Victory’s Songs from Lyonnesse, and a programme of music on a nautical theme, featuring traditional Irish and Newfoundland songs, sung by the Waterford Larks and the Waterford Boy Singers.

The concerts will take place in Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford, and St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny on the 8-9 July. Please see our events calendar for further details.
