Irish Composers on BBC Radio 3

Irish works recorded in the summer series of BBC Invitation Concerts are to be broadcast on Radio 3 this week.

This series of public concerts from Belfast ran from 29 July to 2 September under the title, In Ireland, and featured the Ulster Orchestra and soloists.

It included new commissions by Donnacha Dennehy and Philip Hammond together with older repertoire by Harty, Moeran, May, Ó Riada, Trimble and Boydell. Living composers such as David Byers, John Kinsella, Gerald Barry, Stephen Gardner, Deirdre Gribbin, Elaine Agnew, Eric Sweeney and Ian Wilson were also included.

This important concert series will now be broadcast daily on BBC Radio 3 from Tuesday 1st to Friday 4th November at 2.00 pm.
