The premiere of Gerald Barry’s new opera, The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, takes place in Dublin this month.

An RTÉ Commission and English National Opera commission, the text is by R. W. Fassbinder. The opera features soloists Rayanne Dupuis, Mary Plazas, Stephanie Marshall, Deirdre Cooling-Nolan and Sylvia O’Brien with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra under conductor Gerhard Markson.

It will be performed in the National Concert Hall, Dublin, on Friday, 27 May at 8.00 pm, with a pre-concert composer talk at 6.45 pm.
