Waterford New Music Week

The 2005 Waterford New Music Week begins on Saturday 29 January at Waterford Institute of Technology.

The six-day event opens with a conference on teaching composition entitled Teaching The Unteachable. Papers will be presented by Seóirse Bodley, John Buckley, Hazel Farrell, Marian Ingoldsby, Victor Lazzarini, John Metcalf and Mary Stakelum.

On Sunday 30 January, the De La Salle College Choir, Waterford, will sing Seóirse Bodley’s Mass of Peace at 11.15am, followed at 4.00pm by the opening concert with the Waterford Schools Composition Project and the premiere of a specially commissioned cantata by Eric Sweeney, narrated by Anne Farrell.

The week includes numerous composition and performance workshops with John Metcalf & Seóirse Bodley and performances of new and established contemporary works.
