ReJoyce in Music
An outdoor concert of chamber music by Irish composers inspired by the works of James Joyce takes place in Dublin’s Temple Bar on 20 June. Presented by the Contemporary Music Centre in association with the Temple Bar Outdoors: Diversions Festival and the Association of Irish Composers, the event features the premieres of five new works specially commissioned as part of the ReJoyce Dublin 2004 festival with funds provided by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism. In what promises to be an exciting new music event celebrating both the work of Irish composers and of James Joyce, the new works by Trevor Knight, Rob Canning, Ben Dwyer, Vincent Kennedy and Michael Holohan, will be performed together with existing Joyce-inspired music by Fergus Johnston, Eric Sweeney, John Wolf Brennan and Frank Corcoran. The performers are leading Irish musicians and the conductor is Fergus Johnston. The concert takes place from 3.00-4.00 pm on Sunday 20 June 2004 in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar. For programme details, visit the Calendar. Admission is free by ticket only from the Temple Bar Information Centre, 12 East Essex Street, Dublin 2. Tel: 01-677 2255. This event is grant-aided by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism via the ReJoyce Dublin 2004: Celebrating Bloomsday 100 Festival.
