ReJoyce in Music at Darklight
The five short films with accompanying music specially commissioned for the ReJoyce Dublin 2004 festival will be shown again in Dublin’s Digital Hub on 20 November. Following their first performances in June this year these musical/visual creations by composers Rob Canning, Ben Dwyer, Vincent Kennedy, Trevor Knight and Michael Holohan with visual artists Eamonn O’Kane, Delicious 9 and Katie Lincoln will be heard and seen again as part of the Darklight Digital Festival. The Contemporary Music Centre was partnered by Temple Bar Outdoors: Diversions Festival 2004 and the Association of Irish Composers in the innovative ReJoyce in Music project funded by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism. This aimed to bring contemporary music to a new audience in an imaginative way and took the works of James Joyce as inspiration. The Darklight Digital Festival takes place from 17-21 November in Dublin’s creative village, the Digital Hub, which sees these inner city buildings transformed into a cinema, gallery, games arcade and discussion arena where projections, sound installations and an interactive art programme will take place. Darklight’s custom-built cinemas will screen a diverse range of cutting-edge innovative shorts, documentaries and experimental film from both Irish and International filmmakers. The five ReJoyce in Music commissions will be shown from 5.30 to 6.00 pm as part of a larger programme of music videos commencing at 4.30pm in the Digital Hub, Thomas Street, Dublin 8.
