Music in the Primary School

The Association of Irish Choirs is offering summer courses for primary teachers on the implementation of music within the Primary School Curriculum.

Each strand (performance, listening/responding and composition) will be addressed from a fun but practical perspective, with additional specialist workshops and features.

The theme of this year's courses is 'Music as an educational resource'. Sessions will focus on the application of music as a useful, accessible tool of use to teachers in all aspects of classroom teaching. The courses are aimed at those from music and non-music backgrounds.

Courses take place in Monaghan between Monday July 5th and Friday July 9th at the Monaghan Education Centre, and in Cork between Monday 23rd August and Friday 27th August at the UCC music department.

For further information contact Aisling Roche, Education and Outreach officer for the CNC/Association of Irish Choirs, email aisling@cnc.ie
