Mr Hammond's Opus

Philip Hammond
Philip Hammond

Philip Hammond's new orchestral work Carnavalesque will receive four performances this summer thanks to the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.

Among the concerts is the premiere at Birmingham's Symphony Hall on 1st August. The orchestra will then give the Netherlands premiere on 3rd August at the Grote Kerk, Veere (Nieuwe Muziek Zeeland).

The German premiere forms part of the MusikSommer Berlin young.euro.classic festival, and will take place on 7th August at the Konzerthaus, Berlin.

For each performance the NYOI will be conducted by Eri Klas. The programme will also include Shostakovich's Violin Concerto (with soloist Michael d'Arcy) and Gustav Holst's popular symphonic suite, The Planets.
