Kronos Quartet Play in Dublin

Kronos Quartet
The Kronos Quartet

The Kronos Quartet will give two performances in Dublin’s O’Reilly Theatre in September.

The first concert, on 15 September, features a programme of music written or arranged for the Kronos Quartet by composers including John Zorn, Steve Reich and Aleksandra Vrebalov.

For the second performance on 16 September, the quartet will be joined by renowned Irish accordionist Tony MacMahon to perform the Irish premiere of four pieces by MacMahon and Stephen Prutsman.

The concert will also include the Irish premiere of String Quartet No. 8: Black Woman Rising by composer Kevin Volans.

The Kronos Quartet was founded in 1973 and has become one of the most famous chamber ensembles in the world. The quartet has formed close collaborative partnerships with many of the leading composers of today, and has built up an unparalleled number of commissions and dedications.
