Fiáin

The student composers of University College Cork’s music department are presenting a showcase of their music on 20 May. Fiáin is an Irish word meaning ‘wild’ or ‘untamed’, and indeed the event is described as ‘a multimedia showcase of brand new music; an alchemical explosion of incredible new sound and sights in an eclectic mix of styles; an evening of bewildering, bewitching and beautiful music including installations, performance art, live electronics and sound experimentation.’

The event takes place in Cork’s Triskel Arts Centre at 8.00 pm on Thursday, 20 May. Further events take place after the performance, including a short concert of computer music (bring a cushion to lie on, is the instruction!) and electronica DJ.
