Concorde's spnm Workshop
Contemporary music ensemble Concorde presents music by emerging Irish composers in association with the London-based organisation spnm on Thursday 22 January in the National Gallery of Ireland. spnm's first concert of the new year is also its first in Ireland and reflects the organisation's growing links with Irish composers and musicians. It is also the first in a series of events programmed by new spnm artistic director Deirdre Gribbin that take place in gallery spaces. The 6:30 p.m. concert brings together both established and emerging composers from Ireland and the UK. Featured composers include Ed Bennett, Scott McLaughlin, Derek Anthony Kelly and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly. In addition, artistic director of spnm Deirdre Gribbin will be represented by her accordion solo piece Hells Kells, and spnm President Martin Butler's work for violin solo Bluegrass Variations will be included. All composers will be present to introduce their work and meet the audience; the hour long performance is open to the public free of charge and there will be a drinks reception afterwards.
