CD Promo Inspires Radio Marathon Promotional CDs from CMC inspired a 5-hour marathon broadcast of music by Irish composers recently. WPRB is one of America’s most powerful college radio stations. Based in Princeton, New Jersey, its broadcasts reach as far afield as New York, Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware. A Musical Journey Through Ireland was broadcast on 12 July from 6:00am to 11:00am. The show was presented by Dr Marvin Rosen, who has presented a twice-weekly broadcast called Classical Discoveries for the last seven years. The playlist included works by many of Ireland’s best-known composers including James Wilson, John Kinsella, Philip Martin, Eric Sweeney, Deirdre Gribbin and Elaine Agnew. The show was inspired by a series of promotional CDs produced by the Contemporary Music Centre. Designed as a ‘musical calling card’, the CDs provide a stimulating introduction to the work of Irish composers. The project was carried out with the help of funding from the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and IMRO and has been a great success, stimulating radio airplay all over the world.
