Artists’ Bursaries have been awarded to a number of Irish composers in the 2004 round of decisions from the Arts Council.

The purpose of the bursaries is ‘to support artists -- whether creative or interpretative -- in their professional formation, in the making of new work and in the development of their practice’. Recipients of bursaries in music include composers Roy Carroll (7,000), Siobhán Cleary (8,900), Benjamin Dwyer (10,000) and John McLachlan (6,990).
