Triantán

A newly-formed Irish piano trio named Triantán has an international flavour. Irish pianist Una Hunt is joined by long-time Irish residents, violinist Ruxandra Colan (from Romania) and cellist Ferenc Szucs (from Hungary). Although two members of the group are not Irish born, the Trio has made a special commitment to explore the music of Irish composers of both the past and the present and to promote their music to a wider audience.

Triantán has been appointed Artists-in-residence at the Irish World Music Centre at the University of Limerick and one of the first of their activities there will be a seminar on the afternoon of April 30 entitled 'Irish Composers Past and Present'. This will focus on the music of contemporary Irish composer Ian Wilson and Limerick-born composer George Alexander Osborne (1806-1893). Triantán will perform excerpts from works by both composers and the lunchtime concert preceding the seminar will featuring a performance of Wilson's piano trio, The Seven Last Words.
