The Ark, Dublin's cultural centre for children, is holding a five-day workshop in July designed to facilitate primary school teachers in offering children a detailed exploration of literature and poetry through dance, drama, music and the visual arts. As the title of the workshop indicates, by combining literature with the visual arts, teachers will explore and develop ways to integrate these art forms into a range of areas within the primary school curriculum.
The music component is in the hands of composer Rhona Clarke and teacher Miriam O'Sullivan, who will give practical workshop sessions demonstrating how stories and poems can be linked to music. Participants will also break into small groups to make their own compositions.
The workshop is fully subscribed but further information for anyone interested in attending future events is available from The Ark.
