Seminar on the Promotion and Presentation of New Music

A Seminar on the Promotion and Presentation of New Music is the first all-day event in the Contemporary Music Centre's very successful monthly talks programme. Taking place on Monday, 24 February 2003, the morning session will look at how new music is presented in Ireland and the many different factors that impact on its performance, including promoters, audiences, performers, venues, programme, conductors, the media and education. Guest speakers include Nicola LeFanu, composer; Niall Doyle, Director, RTE Music; Celso Antunes, Director/Conductor, National Chamber Choir and Deirdre McCrea, Acting Director, Music Network with Eve O'Kelly, the Director of CMC, as chairperson.

Following a light lunch provided by CMC the afternoon session, facilitated by Nicola LeFanu, composer and Eve O'Kelly, Director CMC, will explore what composers themselves can do to promote their work. This session will give practical advice and tips as well as outlining the promotional work of CMC and its expanded library and web site services. There will be an opportunity to share experiences through questions and answers.

Admission is free but places are now very limited. Please contact Karen Hennessy, CMC Promotion Manager, to check availability. Email khennessy@cmc.ie or telephone (01) 673 1922.
