Contemporary Music Centre Launches New Web Site, 8 April 2003
You are now logged on to the Contemporary Music Centre's new web site. We are happy to announce the relaunch of www.cmc.ie with an array of new features to showcase Irish contemporary music. For the last two years a large-scale 'behind the scenes' project has been underway to expand the resources available on the CMC web site. Working with New York-based web design company Some Pig Information Design, CMC staff have devised a new format which provides considerably enhanced information and searching capabilities in a fresh but simple and easy-to-use layout. In effect, CMC has put its in-house information resources on line to reach clients over the Internet who will never be able to visit the Centre in Dublin in person. The web site is a groundbreaking resource for Irish music. It aims to deliver the Irish new music scene to the world and demonstrate that Irish artists excel not just in rock and pop, but in contemporary music as well. The best features of the previous CMC site have been retained, though considerably revised and extended. Important new features include news updates, composer interviews (with audio and video clips), on-line searching of the library collection, comprehensive composer data, and a shop which allows the online purchase of CDs, scores and publications. A special Education and Outreach section has been added for schools, and a calendar, also a 'first' for the site, lists new music events taking place in Ireland and abroad.
The new site was officially launched by acclaimed virtuoso pianist and contemporary music specialist Joanna MacGregor at a reception in the Contemporary Music Centre on Tuesday, 8 April 2003. Note: existing bookmarks and links from the previous site will be preserved on the new site.
