The composer C. S. L. Parker is currently preparing to record his film score for Irish director John Conroy’s thirty-minute 35mm film, Poker Nights. Conroy’s first film, Selfish Minds, for which Parker also wrote the music, won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival in New York in April 2003. Poker Nights is the second of a planned trilogy by Conroy.
C. S. L. Parker’s score features the Cork School of Music Symphony Orchestra with conductor Geoffrey Spratt, choral music by Seraphin, jazz musicians and vocal soloists Caroline Moreau and Claire Anne Lynch -- approximately 100 musicians in all. Actor Don Wycherly heads the film cast and the music will be recorded in the City Hall in Cork in February 2004.
