Irish Musical Studies

Four Courts Press has announced the publication of Irish Music in the Twentieth Century, the seventh volume in the Irish Musical Studies series. Edited by Gareth Cox and Axel Klein, this edition was, the editors say, ‘stimulated by the recent expansion in scholarly interest in this area'. The growing body of critical and academic articles on music in Ireland 'all clearly demonstrate that Irish music can and does provide fertile ground for musicological study’. Contributors to IMS 7 on a wide range of topics from 'The divided imagination: music in Ireland after Ó Riada' to 'Roots and directions in twentieth-century Irish arts music' include Harry White, Joseph J. Ryan, Robin Elliott and others, in addition to the editors themselves.

Irish Music in the Twentieth Century, Four Courts Press 2003. ISBN 1-85182-647-5. Euros55.00, hardback only.
