Horizons

RTE Music and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland began their Horizons contemporary music series on January 28 with a programme featuring Stephen Gardner's work Wallop (1996) under conductor David Brophy. Three further concerts take place in February and March, giving an opportunity to hear John McLachlan's Concerto for Chamber Orchestra from 1988 conducted by William Eddins on 4 February, and the premiere of James Wilson's Symphony No. 3 with conductor Colman Pearce on 4 March. The series concludes on 25 March with Jane O'Leary's From Sea-Grey Shores (1999) and Islands of Discovery (1991) conducted by Gerhard Markson.

All concerts take place at the National Concert Hall at 6.30pm on Tuesday evenings and are linked to Lyric FM's weekly Horizons of New Music programme. Admission is free and the concerts are preceded by a composer talk at 5.45pm. Tickets from the RTE Music Division, email music@rte.ie or at the door.
