Horizons, RTÉ lyric fm's dedicated new music programme returns to a new slot on Sunday nights, beginning on 2 November 2003. Under the banner, New Music, New Directions, New Horizons!, the programmes for November are as follows:
Sunday 9.30 - 10.00pm 2 November 2003
Presented by Bernard Clarke, this programme features a radio essay, ‘Contemporary Music is Contemporary Art’, by composer Frank Corcoran, with excerpts from his recently issued CD, Mad Sweeney's Shadow.
Also in the programme, Australian guitarist Craig Ogden meets Irish composers to discuss the commissioning process as part of an innovative collaboration between the Contemporary Music Centre, Music Network, lyric fm and the Arts Council's Critical Voices programme.

Another chance to hear Deirdre Gribbin's award-winning Empire States, entered by RTÉ lyric fm and the Contemporary Music Centre for the 50th International Rostrum of Composers held in Vienna earlier this year. The piece was one of ten to win a recommendation at the Rostrum out of a total of 58 works presented from all over the world.

Bernard Clarke pays tribute to the late Luciano Berio. The programme includes a recording of Berio in conversation with Irish composer Raymond Deane at the RTÉ Living Music festival in October 2002.

Bernard Clarke plays further selections from the 2003 International Rostrum of Composers, including this year's winner, the Trumpet Concerto by Polish Composer, Hannah Kulenty, a former pupil of Louis Andriessen.
