Diffusion Winners

The winner of the Diffusion competition run by the University of Limerick in association with Lyric FM is Deirdre Johnson from Tralee in County Kerry with her work, Reverie. A professional musician and former secondary school teacher, Johnson undertook the masters degree in Music Technology at the University of Limerick in 2000/2001. Her particular interest is in electro-acoustic composition and studio recording and production. She is currently working in sales but aims to do a higher qualification in electro acoustic composition and own her own recording studio. Second prize was awarded to Patricia Martinez from Buenos Aires for her piece, Mirrors of Time. Third prize was awarded to Jason Geistweidt, an American postgraduate student at the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) of Queen's University, Belfast, for Trans-mission.

The winning works, together with cash prizes of Euro symbol500, Euro symbol300 and Euro symbol200 were presented at a concert in the University of Limerick on 5 April.
