Concorde Premieres

Concorde

New music ensemble Concorde gives the premiere of an innovative work by Rob Canning (b. 1974) at Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery on Sunday October 5, with a repeat performance at the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, on October 7 (for details see Calendar). The 45-minute composition is structured to feature members of Concorde as soloists and in ensemble, together with live electronics and a sound track devised from pre-recorded excerpts. The work is supported by a commission from the Arts Council.

Concorde gives a second concert at the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, on 18 November featuring Northern Irish composer Bill Campbell’s Music from the Reed Bed, written to incorporate the voice of Dermot Healy and poems from his book, The Reed Bed, with music for quintet. The piece was commissioned by Cavan County Council during Bill’s residency there as a composer.
