NCH Composers' Choice Dublin's National Concert Hall presents its third annual contemporary music series, Composers' Choice, from 22 to 28 March 2002. This year it features the work of Michael McGlynn, Seóirse Bodley, Frank Corcoran, Jennifer Walshe and Fergus Johnston. Supported by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), RTÉ Lyric FM and The Sunday Tribune, the series dedicates one concert to each composer, focussing on their work and influences. With the programmes chosen by the composers themselves, each concert presents a selection of their works in context with established repertoire by other composers and also includes a new work specially commissioned from the composer by the National Concert Hall. Performers include the Finnish choral group, Rajaton, appearing with support from the Finnish Embassy; Edinburgh-based trombonist John Kenny; and Bulgarian musicians Yosif Radionov (violin) and Zoornitsa Damianova (piano). Irish-based musicians taking part include Kenneth Edge (saxophone), William Butt (cello), Andrei Roudenko (piano), David Adams (harpsichord) and Nicholas Milne (viola da gamba). The National Concert Hall's Education and Outreach Programme is again presenting a number of activities to enhance this year's series. These include an informal introduction by RTÉ Lyric FM producer Evonne Cutliffe, a masterclass with Rajaton and Michael McGlynn, and pre-concert talks by all of the Irish composers.
