National Chamber Choir

On 5 December 2002 in the Shaw room of the National Gallery of Ireland the National Chamber Choir and artistic director, Celso Antunes, will perform a special concert dedicated to Peace. The programme uses as its theme the motet, Supremum est mortalibus, written by Guillaume Dufay in 1433. It also features works by J. S. Bach, Kodály and Penderecki, and comes to a close with a new version of the Supremum est Mortalibus text, specially commissioned from composer Stephen Gardner.

The Quest, an opera for children by Colin Mawby and Maeve Ingoldsby, will be the focus for a year-long collaboration between the National Chamber Choir and twelve primary schools in Dublin and Cork. The opera will be performed in each school in May 2003, with gala performances in Cork and Dublin in June 2003 featuring children from all the schools. The new project begins in October 2002 and is open to all primary schools in Cork and Dublin.
