Irish Discography

Irish Classical Recordings, described as 'A discography of Irish art music' has just been published by Greenwood Press. Its author, Axel Klein, is known to many for his research on Irish composers and their music and this valuable book lists CDs, LPs and cassettes on which have been recorded works from the earliest composers recognised as 'Irish' (such as John Field) right through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to today's most active and innovative figures. The author also includes an interesting section on 'Recorded "Irish" music by non-Irish Composers' ranging alphabetically from Leroy Anderson to Arthur Sullivan and Raymond Warren via Beethoven, Cage, Hindemith and Purcell.

Irish Classical Recordings: A Discography of Irish Art Music. Axel Klein, Greenwood Press 2001. ISBN 0 313 31742 9. Distributed by EDS, 3 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden London WC2E 8LU, email orders@edspubs.co.uk
