Seachanges
Raymond Deane's Seachanges (with Danse Macabre), the Irish set work for the Leaving Certificate music syllabus, is published by the Contemporary Music Centre.

Frank Corcoran wins the EMS Prize 2002
Frank Corcoran was awarded joint first prize at the EMS award ceremony in Fylkingen, Sweden for Quasi Una Missa.

Events at CMC
After a summer break through July and August, the CMC monthly talks series resumed this autumn with a very special event on 24 September.

Kinsella Concerto
Congratulations to John Kinsella whose Cello Concerto (2000) has been performed three times in Mexico this year, following its successful premiere in Dublin's National Concert Hall in March.

Choir's Anniversary
On 28 June 2002 the Irish Youth Choir celebrated its 21st Anniversary in a gala reunion concert of twentieth- and twenty-first century Irish choral music.

WIT Feis 2003
The Waterford Institute of Technology Music School's Fintan O'Carroll Feis will celebrate its seventh year with a relaunch in April 2003, having undergone major changes this year.

CMC Prizes
The Contemporary Music Centre is very pleased to continue its sponsorship of prizes for the performance of new Irish music.

National Chamber Choir
On 5 December 2002 in the Shaw room of the National Gallery of Ireland the National Chamber Choir and artistic director, Celso Antunes, will perform a special concert dedicated to Peace.

CMC Choral Trophy
The Tredagh Singers, Drogheda, conducted by Patricia Hegarty, were the first prizewinners of the newly-commissioned Contemporary Music Centre Perpetual Trophy at the Cork International Choral Festival in May this year.

Genesis Opera Project
September saw the launch of the second Genesis Opera Project (previously known as the Genesis Prizes for Opera).

Waterford New Music Week 2003
The fourth Waterford New Music Week will take place next year from 27-31 January.

First RTÉ Living Music Festival
Friday 25 - Sunday 27 October will see the first RTÉ Living Music Festival, a major new festival devoted to contemporary music by leading international and Irish figures, take place in The Helix, Ireland's newest multi-venue performance centre located at Dublin City University.

Con Brio
This season's programme from the Con Brio music society in Sligo seeks to build on previous successes with an exciting line-up of music and artists of the highest calibre.

In March a new music exchange project took place between Ireland and Canada.

Irish Chamber Orchestra
The Irish Chamber Orchestra has commissioned five Irish composers to collaborate on a work for the opening night of the Killaloe Music Festival 2002.

Walshe at Gaudeamus
Jennifer Walshe's moving in/love song/city front garden with old men written in 2000 is one of 24 pieces shortlisted from 370 entries for this year's Gaudeamus Prize.

Hugh Lane Gallery
The well-regarded and well-attended Sundays at Noon concerts in Dublin's Hugh Lane Gallery continue into May and June and feature a number of Irish composers.

National Chamber Choir
The Gerard Victory Commission for 2002 has been awarded to young composer Garrett Sholdice from St Andrew's College, Dublin.

Chris Craker's CD label, Black Box, has been sold to the UK's largest independent music company, the Sanctuary Group plc.

CMC Awards
The Contemporary Music Centre's new Perpetual Trophy for the performance of Irish contemporary choral music was awarded at the Cork International Choral Festival 2002 to the Tredagh Singers from Drogheda, Co Louth, under conductor Patricia Hegarty.

Music Copyright and Contracts
The CMC monthly talks series continues on Tuesday, 28 May 2002 with a talk on copyright and contracts. It will be given by Donal McGuirk, Manager of Member Services at IMRO, and Linda Scales, a solicitor.

CMC's New Home
The Contemporary Music Centre's new premises were officially opened by Mary McAleese, President of Ireland, on 9 April 2001.
