Search for a work

To search for a work, select a specific composer, work category & subcategory, and/or enter a keyword. Searches can be performed either separately or in combination.

arrow Category/subcategory: Select a category by itself or in combination with a subcategory. You cannot search a subcategory alone.
Selection: Retrieves:
Band (alone) all works for band
Band (category) & Brass (subcategory) only works for brass band

arrow Title (keyword):

Enter one or more words of the work's title. If you use more than one keyword, results will be restricted to works that are an exact match of the keywords you entered.
Selection: Retrieves:
day results with keywords "day," "birthday," "days," "holidays" (where "day" appears anywhere in the keyword)
day at the races result entitled "A Day at the Races"
day at races no results (not an exact match)

Advanced search

To perform an advanced search, select composer, work category & subcategory, instrumentation, ensemble type, composer's year of birth, year of composition, duration, number of players, and/or number of solo voices, either separately or in combination.

Note: You can use any "search" or "reset" button on this page to perform or reset your search.

arrow Category/subcategory: See explanation above.

arrow Year of birth, composition, duration, number of players, solo voices: Use these to indicate range parameters. In each case, an exact year, duration, or number can be found by using the same value in both "from" and "to."
Selection: Retrieves:
"03" in both "to" and "from" of "duration" only works that are 3 minutes long
"1993" in "to" and "1995" in "from" of "year of composition" all works composed between 1993 and 1995
"any number" (no selection) in "from" and "05" in "to" of "number of players" all works with 5 or fewer players

arrow Instrumentation: Search for compositions with specific instrumentation.
Selection: Retrieves:
oboe all works including oboe
oboe (solo) only works including oboe as a solo instrument
oboe and marimba all works including oboe and marimba
