The Future of Music in the Digital World 2

Workshop

The 'Present' of Music - This Time It's Personal ...

It's time to stop talking about 'the future of music'. This is the future we were talking about, and pretty much everyone got it wrong.

It's no longer a question of whether or why to use the internet, but how?

However, there are as many answers to that question as there are musicians asking it. This workshop will endeavour to help you find your answer by asking better questions.

  • "My audience are already talking online" - how do I find them?
  • "But I talk about myself all day long!!" - why is nobody listening?
  • "Is there something musical I can use the internet for that's not just self-promotion?"

All hyperbole aside, the Internet is just a means of people talking to one another. How does it become a useful part of my communications tool-kit, rather than a scary new load of things to learn and acronyms to remember?

In this 2-hour workshop session, Steve Lawson and Andrew Dubber of New Music Strategies will introduce you to practical and useful ways to use the skills you already have to integrate the internet into your current practice in ways you may not have considered.
