Samples Sandbox

Listen to the sounds below and click to hear what each of the different effects do to them.

  • Can you create your own piece of electronic music by playing one sound after another and combining them in different ways?

Top Tip: When you have created something that you like, write down what sounds you played and in what order. That way, you can do it again later to show your friends.

Compose Your Own Electro-Acoustic Piece

Once you have completed your tape piece, why not add a live part to it!

  • Use your voices or instruments to add your own sounds to your piece.
  • How many of the computer sounds can you imitate using your voice or instruments?
  • Try playing different combinations of electronic and acoustic sounds or try swapping between the two.

Top Tip: Consider how long each sound in your piece will last. Will you add or remove effects to a single sound? Or slowly change from one sound to another?

If you want to record your piece or make your own electronic music at home, read how to do it here. If you are using your parent’s computer, remember to ask their permission first. You may want their help setting it up too!
