Ciarán Farrell was born in Dublin and graduated from Trinity College in 1997. He studied piano and clarinet at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and took up classical guitar with Irish guitarist John Feeley before going on to complete his degree, majoring in composition. He also partook in the IMRO composition summer school in Ennis on a number of occasions and studied film music composition with Ennio Morricone at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy.

He has received commissions from the BBC, RTÉ lyric fm, RTÉ Performing Groups, Craig Ogden, The Smith Quartet, Gerard McChrystal, John Feeley, Feeley/Dowdall duo, Katie McMahon, Concorde, Cois Céim, Irish Modern Dance Theatre and Codetta amongst others.

Ciarán Farrell has also worked on numerous TV/Film productions, with companies such as Channel 4, Discovery, RTÉ, TG4, Littlebird and Non-Fiction Films.

He is presently developing a solo piano work entitled 'Proverbs' for Symphony Orchestra.

His work has been both performed and broadcast globally.
