A short video on CMC's latest CD release,Contemporary Music from Ireland, Volume Eight, featuring interviews with a selection of the composers.

This latest promotional CD in the series Contemporary Music from Ireland gives a glimpse into what has been happening in new music over the last five years or so. Works from eleven composers are featured, ranging from established figures on the international new music scene to emerging composers who are fast gaining profile for their innovative work. The CD, which will be distributed internationally, aims to showcase the work of the composers featured and illustrates the vitality and diversity of Irish composition today.

The impressive line-up of performers who have taken this music into their repertoire is in itself an indication of the quality of the works. Artists range from the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group under conductor (and composer) Thomas Adès; the National Chamber Choir of Ireland conducted by Celso Antunes; the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet; French pianist Romain Descharmes, winner of the 2006 AXA Dublin International Piano Competition; and leading Irish violinist and contemporary music specialist Darragh Morgan appearing both solo and as a member of the Fidelio Trio, among others.
