CMC Salon Series 2008: Mary Dullea

CMC Salon Series 2008: Mary Dullea, Piano

A short video featuring highlights from Mary Dullea's performance at the Contemporary Music Centre's new music Salon series in the Goethe Institut, Dublin on 5 November 2008.

Irish pianist Mary Dullea has built an impressive reputation as a performer and commissioner of new music. She has performed throughout Ireland, England, Europe, USA, Hong Kong and South Africa. Originally from Cork and now based in London, she studied at the Royal College of Music, London and Goldsmiths College, University of London, where she obtained a Masters degree in Contemporary Music Studies.

Her Salon performance on 5 November 2008 at the Goethe Institut, Dublin included works by Ed BennettFrank Lyons and Jennifer Walshe with two of the composers, Ed Bennett and Frank Lyons, in attendance.

The Contemporary Music Centre's Salon series is designed to introduce the newcomer to contemporary music as well as capture the interest of those already familiar with it. Each performance takes place in an informal atmosphere in which the composers and performers invite questions and feedback from the audience.

The series, now in its fifth year, also included performances from soprano Sylvia O'Brien accompanied on piano by Irish composer Seóirse Bodley on 15 October and Ensemble ICC, the performance wing of the Irish Composers' Collective, on 26 November 2008.

The 2008 series was a great success, with excellent performances from all concerned, and active participation from the audience resulting in lively discussions between the composers, performers and audience.

CMC's 2008 events are supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
