The Art of Sound:
A Glimpse Into the Creativity of Irish Composers

The Art of Sound is a photographic and multi-media exhibition devised by the Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland.

The creative process is mysterious and rarely analysed in any detail. But how does an initial idea in a composer’s head develop into the finished and often complex musical work that we hear on the concert platform?

This exhibition explores, in layman’s terms, that ‘middle bit’ between the concept and the final performance. Based around photographer Eugene Langan’s striking portraits of Irish composers together with images of their musical handwriting, an audio-guide with music and narration takes the visitor on a journey of discovery.
